UPCOMING EVENTS
Friday January 25: Live Music: Dan Newton Aka “Daddy Squeeze” 6pm
Dan’s fresh approach to the much-maligned squeeze-box and his mind-boggling repertoire of both original and traditional material will change the mind of the most hardened accordion skeptic. Dan draws influences for songs and tunes from such sources as French Musette, Gypsy Swing, Cajun, Jug band, Tex-Mex and Cumbia. He calls this global gumbo “ethnoclectic” music. Daddy Squeeze entertains and enlightens his audiences with stories and colorful anecdotes about the accordion and his experiences while making a living playing the instrument he loves.www.daddysqueeze.com $5 at the door, all proceeds go to the artist

Friday February 22: Literary: Xerxes Whitney, Poetry Reading 6pm
“Sometimes I am cruising and sometimes I can barely get out of the starting gate” is Xerxes Whitney’s take not only on personal reality but the human condition. He looks closely at mundane, commonplace experience, what’s right under our noses, and sees what most of us overlook. His poems restore us to the center, what’s really here right now. He articulates the wisdom of brotherhood gleaned from the perspective of difference and shows us both the forest and the trees, a longer larger view, coloring outside the lines, which we can celebrate and embrace. –Carla Steinberg, English Professor via amazon.com
